International Avocado

CTM schedule = eat, study, class, eat, class, eat, study, run, eat (pretty banger if you ask me)

HIGHLIGHTS!!

- During our hour of freedom last week we bought some fruit and an absolutely massive avocado. Because we are officially Brasileiras, we decided that we needed to eat said massive avocado the Brazilian way, which includes a little sugar and powdered milk (i know I know, I doubted too). However, the only time we have access to a knife to cut said avocado is during our dinner time in the cafeteria. So we brought this massive avocado into the cafeteria and made our little concoction. Let me tell you, it was soooo good. Like wow. We also got plenty of stares as other missionaries tried to figure out where in the heck we got an avocado from. Some elders gawked at our avocado through the windows and tried to talk to us with large hand motions and speaking slowly, but reading lips in a different language turned out to be quite hard. They ended up bringing out the google translate and wrote "international avocado". Umm no elders, no way would you ever find an avocado that large in the US

- Every week for church, everybody in our branch has to prepare a talk in Portuguese for sacrament meeting. Then when we show up Sunday morning it's basically Russian roulette for who gets chosen to speak in church. Somehow with 14 people in our branch for the first few weeks, my entire district has avoided the bullets. But not this week. When we walked into sacrament, we saw our names on the board and knew our time had come. We were all a little scared, but let's be real, we are now the oldest (as in been at the ctm the longest) missionaries in our branch. So the only person that is really gonna know what we're saying is the branch president. But of course, the ctm president and his wife decided to attend our sacrament meeting that week, so anxiety levels were high. But it ended up being a really cool meeting. The spirit was super strong as we all spoke and it was awesome to hear the testimonies of my district.

- one of the best days of every week is Tuesday. New people come in, and the ctm tries to make a good impression by feeding them french toast and sorvette (ice cream) (they really try hard because we never get sorvette and french toast on other days). Today after lunch, we waited in line to get our sorvette and a few Brazilian elders started talking to us. We were laughing and having a great time, and before I know it it's my turn to order. But the elders started to order for me and I was a wee bit confused but somehow I came out with 2 ice cream cones, so no complaints there. Thank you random elders :)

- another random highlight this week was on Sunday. Our zone had a meeting and decided to bond by playing down by the banks. As we were playing and obviously making a lot of noise, a couple Brazilian elders were watching us. When the meeting was over, sister harden and I walked out of the room, and the 2 elders asked us what game we were playing. We taught them how to play, and it was the highlight of my day. We're basically making the world a better place one down by the banks game at a time.

- Every night we have physical activity. We corre corre volei (run run volleyball) with Brasileiros. Seriously so much fun, and the elders are always shocked that despite my height I'm not half bad.

- to finish off with a spiritual thought, I'll share one a couple of verses I liked from my study this week. It's D&C 11:21-22 (my fingers are not typing the whole thing out for you lol). I've been  feeling a little antsy this past week to get out into the field (liberdade por favor). But this scripture reminded me that I have this unique time in the ctm to really study the gospel and that's what God needs me to do right now. I will go out into the field in God's time. But for now, it was a nice reminder to enjoy my last days at the ctm, because it really is awesome

life is good :)
love you all
