I've run out of clever beginnings for these emails, so here it is :) HIGHLIGHTS - the picolé store owner across the street is looking out for me and has reminded me multiple times when we leave the house to wear my sunscreen. (Also somehow it's only been winter here, so someone please tell me how I'm gonna survive summer - she's gonna die) - had some gooood laughs this week - like crying almost pee your pants laughs - Luiz got baptized yesterday!! His baptism was filled with so many little miracles. 1) his member friend, Israel, was able to baptize him. 2) He brought his sister along to watch. 3) The spirit was super duper strong. 4) Luiz bore his testimony after which was epic and 5) sister Elescano and I didn't completely embarrass ourselves in our musical number (although we should definitely practice some more) - For Luiz's baptism, we forgot to text the irmãs in the ward asking for they could make a cake until about 8pm Saturday night. And of course, none...

Officially done with training!! Transfer news: my comp and I are staying in Lessa, which I am so excited for!  Also I should probably apologize for how all over the place these emails are, but I'm gonna blame it on the Portuguese turning my brain to mush. highlights!!  - I think our investigators had a little meeting this week and decided to all give us free food: ice cream, pastels, pizza, peanuts, cake. You already know that was a sign for a good week.  - JEAN SMILED. Jean is a man we've been teaching for a few weeks. And he's hard. He shows up to our lessons which is awesome, but he doesn't talk very much, and never smiles. But during a lesson this week, I saw him smile and even laugh a little. Needless to say, epic. - We pushed our luck a little too far this week with the carro pequenos. They stop running at about 6:30. But Tuesday night, we had a lesson that lasted until 7, so we missed all the cars and buses. We were quite literally stuck. But luckily, after some ...

I don't think that's what it's supposed to look like

I think I jinxed myself last week thinking it was a little slow because this week was nothing short of psycho.  HIGHLIGHTS - About 10 minutes after I sent my last email, I was playing futebol and hurt my ankle. Like heard a scary popping noise, hurt to walk, swelled ankle bad. We decided to wait until the next night to go to the clinic, but after telling the president's wife, she told us that we had to go to the hospital in Salvador the next morning. So we made the 2.5 hour trek of buses and ubers to the hospital in Salvador. Got some x-rays. And it's just sprained (thank the high heavens). They then gave me a brace and told me not to walk more than 10 minutes. Ummmm that's not really an option lol. I took the brace, but not the advice. And I've looked like an absolute idiot with the brace, but just be glad than I politely declined my bishop giving me a cane. And I've actually really seen God's hand throughout the week - although my ankle is still swollen and pu...

I'm bringing back the 'week summed up in quotes' email. Because that's just how this week was. So as always, sit back and enjoy (and laugh along with me even though 90% of these won't make any sense to you) - "sai max!" (Leave max!) - turns out the dog's name was max too - a photography class asked to take a picture of us. Us: "umm sure". Them: "ok, now look off into the distance". Me: trying so so hard not to laugh. - me and sister elescano at the same time: "AAHHHHHHHH"(rato in the house) - sister bueno: *a certain 4 letter word* (but we'll give her a break because she doesn't speak English) - learning about how another religion receives the holy ghost: blows a kiss, "take the spirit, take the spirit"  - "bate palmas acima por Jesus" (clap your hands above your head for Jesus) (apparently any lower and it's for the devil) - "que cute" (one of the few English words the sisters kno...
