Good Cheer

welcome back to another week in the Bahia full of miracles, adventures, and só coisas boas highlights - our ward had a RS activity that involved a little zumba on Saturday. And although we aren't allowed to dance, I decided zumba and dancing aren't the same thing, and brought back all my knowledge and skills from my byu zumba class. I got many "olha! A americana está fazendo zumba!" (Look! The American's doing zumba!) - the bishop's wife was trying to convince us for a solid 30 minutes at lunch that Zac efron was not only a member of the church, but also served his mission in the Bahia. Unfortunately for her, Google told us that Zac "was too busy" (literally a direct quote) to come to brasil. But we were dying laughing. - also had exchanges (for the first time ever in this mish) which were so fun! 3 days with 6 sisters = festassss - Marli got baptized this week! She was so so excited for her baptism and it was so awesome watching her take that step...

BOM DIA MY LOVES highlights :) - I think sister Elescano and I have lived together for too long and are brains are becoming one. We twinned 3x this week on accident. - I finally got to go on some runs outside this week = happiness - hearing an old irmã in the ward send us "kakaka brincadeira" in a voice message - sitting in the back of the bus and almost flying with the driver goes over the speed bumps at who knows how fast - found a 70 year old man jamming out to "your heart will go on" and jammed out with him - proselyting with an 82 year old woman - quite the adventure. Let me tell you how it went. 1) walking 1 hr to an appointment that normally would have taken 20 minutes. 2) spending 1 hr in the appointment because irmã Julia has a lot to say. 3) walking 1 hr back to irmã Julia's house. 4) Whole afternoon gone. But it was irmã Julia's dream to be a missionary, so who are we to deny her. - our tarde familiar's in Mata will always and forever be a h...

hellooooo fambam!!  highlights:) - sister Elescano got kissed on the head by our veryyyy drunk investigator - the wind blowing when we take a break at the top of a hill to drink some water (God is real) - someone showed up to English class!  - bishop calling us at 8:30 pm before we go home to give us pastels  - had the cops pull up outside of a members house when we were visiting and Sister Elescano and I had some fond memories/flashbacks to the tiroteiros in parque da cidade  - Celebrated the birthdays of 2 members this week! Birthdays happen all the time, but these visits were special. Both of them didn't have any plans for their bdays. So we visited, talked, and ate cake with them. And hopefully made their bday a little more special and happy. - We had some major miracles with Marli this week. We had asked her to pray a few times about all the things we were teaching her, and she wasn't doing it. So finally on Thursday, Elescano made her pray right during t...

welcome to another week in the life of a Bahian (I may not look Bahian, but trust me I am) highlights :) - sister Fenton made chocolate chip cookies for everyone at zone conference! (que saudades) - We were giving a lesson to an inactive member, and out of nowhere sister Elescano just started talking gibberish. I looked at the member, the member looked at me. Ummm sister Elescano I'm no Portuguese expert but I think you're speaking Spanish. She had no clue she had switched. It was indeed hilarious. -  girl were contacting: gets a call, answers said call, "ya I'm just talking to some Jehovah Witnesses". Sister Elescano and I: "no, no, noooooo". (there are so many Jehovah Witnesses here) (sometimes we'll be knocking doors on the same street and have a little chicken battle, who's gonna give up first) - we had zone conference this week which was so good! To sum up its goodness, here's a quote from my journal: "and just like that, the ques...

BOM DIAAAAA How are you doing my loves?? Go look at all the fall leaves for me por favor ;) highlights!! - constantly asking president to go places we're not allowed to, and him always letting us  - Had my first person spit at me this week! Milestone for sure. - pictured below would be us eating cake during our meeting on health :) - also pictured below, I found my long lost little brother (sorry Charlie) - and finally you will also see our carro pequeno driver getting his priorities straight, trying to watch a soccer match and drive us to Mata at the same time. - We've had some really good lessons this week with media references! (*cough cough nudge nudge maren*) (apparently our mish is quite bad at that) - Sister Bueno gets mad at me when I call her a "porcaria" or tell her to "cala boca". But then I tell her that it's her own fault because she's the one who taught me these words. - We met this couple (Franklin and Taiana) last week in the carro ...
