You is strong!
FELIZ SÃO JOÃO!!! This holiday is basically like Brazilian Christmas, and everything is closed. Like everything. Send p-day help. (Only slightly joking)
highlights!!
- Bishop helped us take one of our extra mattresses to a member who really needed it. So Wednesday morning we were caught hauling a mattress on our head through the favelas.
- Spent 2 days in Myssurunga, and while there I somehow managed to sell my American peanut butter for 2 popsicles.
- I may have had my worst lunch experience yet. One day I ate my whole plate of food, and stood up to get a little more (because ya know, if you don't that's just a lack of manners). The irmã proceeded to grab my plate and put mounds of food on it. Like rice was literally falling off the side. I suffered as I pounded the rice and spaghetti and chicken and said a little prayer that I wouldn't throw up in irmã's house. Sister Araujo just looked at my suffering face and said "you is strong sister"
- As we were hoofing it up a massive hill, we saw the ocean!! That's a first in brotas!
- We got an air fryer! I know that this has nothing to do with missionary work, but you know, if you have an air fryer you have to constantly talk about your air fryer. So yes, we have an air fryer.
I had such an amazing experience with our friend Larissa this week. We started teaching her about 2 months ago. Her mom was a media reference that we received. When we met them, her dad was in the hospital because he had a brain tumor. As the weeks went on, we ended up teaching the daughter, Larissa. She went to church, read the BoM, and after a few complications, her dad made it our of the hospital and was able to go home. When we were talking to her this week, we asked her "if Jesus walked into your house right now, what do you think He would do?" She responded with "I think He would heal us, love us, and show us the path we need to walk." Reflecting back on the past 2 months, I had seen just that. Through us, Christ had literally healed her father, loved her and her family, and taught them the path to walk. I showed her the brilliance of what she had just said. And although she couldn't get past her fear to get baptized, she taught me something very important: the realness that we are indeed a trio here in Brotas. Christ is literally walking with us: healing, loving, and teaching.
Jacob 5:72
"And it came to pass that the servants did go and labor with their mights; and the Lord of the vineyard labored also with them; and they did obey the commandments of the Lord of the vineyard in all things"
life is good:)
love you all
