do nada
welcome to another week in the life of a Bahian (I may not look Bahian, but trust me I am)
- sister Fenton made chocolate chip cookies for everyone at zone conference! (que saudades)
- We were giving a lesson to an inactive member, and out of nowhere sister Elescano just started talking gibberish. I looked at the member, the member looked at me. Ummm sister Elescano I'm no Portuguese expert but I think you're speaking Spanish. She had no clue she had switched. It was indeed hilarious.
- girl were contacting: gets a call, answers said call, "ya I'm just talking to some Jehovah Witnesses". Sister Elescano and I: "no, no, noooooo". (there are so many Jehovah Witnesses here) (sometimes we'll be knocking doors on the same street and have a little chicken battle, who's gonna give up first)
- we had zone conference this week which was so good! To sum up its goodness, here's a quote from my journal: "and just like that, the question I had been battling for 3 months was answered". Not gonna lie, at the beginning of my mission I was not the biggest fan of my mission president and his wife. But everyday I am learning more and more that they really are called of God and are exactly what I and the Bahians need.
- this week during our noite familiar in Mata, we got permission to serve the sacrament! It was so awesome to watch an investigator and 3 long time inactive members be able to take the sacrament again and revive some old friendships!
- This week I have been thinking a lot about a quote from President Nelson, "the joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives." These people in Dias D'Ávila and Mata de São João are some of the happiest people. And proof that as we make Jesus the focus of our lives, our circumstances may not change, but our joy will. We will have an eternal perspective and will be able to "think celestial". The joy found in Christ is the same, whether in Brazil or Utah.
life is good :)
love you all
