Why did you stop?

 highlights from the life of a bahaiana: 

- we had a lesson this week with Lionel and his whole family! It was so so so awesome! We used the friend magazine and talked about Christmas! It is hands down one of my favorite lessons I have taught so far! 

- this week for some reason was full of Bible bashes, angry phone calls from angry girlfriends, and ex-mormon videos, which made it a wee bit hard, but also provided some funny memories. Ex: us: "hang up hang up hang up, faster faster faster"

- we also had exchanges this week with sister Johnson and b Sousa! Which meant pizza nights!!

- Yesterday we visited a cute little old couple who have the sweetest testimonies. They unfortunately can't come to church bc they're so old, but they are adorable. While there, we asked to sing a hymn with them, and the wife chose "Nearer my God to thee". We sang the 3 verses and when we stopped singing, the cute little old grandma goes "why did you stop? There's 2 more verses." I was in shock that this 90 year old woman not only knows this hymn by memory, but knows all 5 verses. Not the normal 3 that people sing. This song has become one of my favorites and now especially verses 4 and 5. (And I think it's more beautiful in Portugues so I'll do my best to translate it for you): 

4) As I wake up, closer to thee, all my afflictions, I'll leave there
5) my soul will sing, to you my Lord, full of gratitude, for your amor

I know our Savior lives and because He lives we can leave our afflictions behind. He loves us all and I am so grateful for His love!

Welcome to Bahia

  highlights!!! - last p-day I was talking with an elder in my mission in our chapel who is from Brazil. We were just chatting when we hear gunshots outside. He then goes "welcome to Bahia". The members told me that when I see a person with a gun, i just say "arma bonita" (beautiful gun) and keep walking, so yep, here we go - one day when we were out tracking we were hungry so we got some açai from this cute little store. Lets just say we got the owner and his family's phone number so hopefully we can teach them and get free açai hehe - we take basically the same road everyday into the main neighborhood of our area. And one day on this road, we saw a cute little old lady out on her porch with some grandkids. We went up and started talking to her, and she was soooo sweet. She even gave us popsicles. We got her number and told her we would come back the next day. So we come back the next day, same thing, super sweet and free popsicles. We pass by again on our way ...

Job's Not Finished

Job's finished? Job's not finished.  We're working até o pozinho and got some serious miracles cooking for the next few weeks.  - Kaike! Pray for Kaike! - Ariane! Pray for Ariane!  - had my last zone conference and had to give my last testimony to the mission! Very bittersweet! - President took everyone who is finishing their mission this transfer to a Bahia soccer game, which included but was not limited to VIP tickets, unlimited free food, and watching president cheer silently for the opposing team. That's all I got for now, but as for a spiritual thought: I've been thinking a lot recently about one of the Savior's encounters with the Apostles after His resurrection. He found them fishing and asked Peter 3 times if he loved Him more than he loved the fish. John 21:17 "He saith unto him the third time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? Smile and Wave

  HOLY CRAP SHE'S ACTUALLY IN SALVADOR This week has been craaazzzyyy, let me tell ya. I'm currently living in an apartment with 5 sisters, and we have 1 phone, so not too much time, but I'll tell you the good stuff - HIGHLIGHTSSSSS So the church really just decided to throw a curve ball and change it all up over here. 1) new preach my gospel - updated on our literal last day at the ctm, so we've got to learn it all again. 2) the day I arrived in my mission, I learned that it is no longer Salvador south, but now just Salvador. Ill send a pic of the new boundaries, but just know that it changed a lot, like a lot. Which means that the past 4 days have been crazy with missionaries getting reassigned and all. However, this means that the Salvador temple which should be done in about a year will be in my mission which is exciting!! My area!!! I'm currently serving in Parque da Cidade! Its an area right in the city on the coast and the chapel is right on the beach hehe. I...
